How to Get Ahold of Us
To get ahold of us, send an email. If there is a dedicated email address for a specific purpose, like recruitment/applications, theses, etc. then send it to that address. Do not just send it to general or individual addresses because it is easier for you. We use these specific addresses for good reason.
Phone calls are meant for RUB internal and urgent synchronous communication. Generally, we do not pick up the phone if a) the phone number is external (not RUB), b) we do not recognize the phone number calling us, and c) we do not expect any calls.
When you email us, make sure that you do not include any email trackers. We do not respond to any emails that include email trackers. We do not consent to being tracked, we find them extremely rude and invasive, and they are also possibly illegal in our jurisdiction.
Thank you for understanding.
How to Get to Us
The Chair for Software Security is located on the 4th floor of the MC building on the west side of the main campus of Ruhr University Bochum. Our offices are on the west side of the north wing of the building. You need to use the north elevators or stairs to reach us and then ring our door bell.

How to Get to RUB
For detailed information on how to travel to Ruhr University Bochum by car or as a short- and long distance traveler, please refer to the official mobility information of RUB, which is more regularly updated and also includes information about construction sites and detours that might affect travel.
Four airports are close to the Bochum area:
- Dusseldorf (DUS), 50 km, approximately 40 mins by car or 1 hr by public transport.
- Cologne/Bonn (CGN), 83 km, approximately 1 hr by car or 2 hrs by public transport.
- Dortmund (DTM), 41 km, approximately 35 mins by car or 1 hr 30 mins by public transport.
- Münster/Osnabrück (FMO), 103 km, approximately 1 hr 15 mins by car or 2 hrs 30 mins by public transport.
Among these four, we recommend to travel via Dusseldorf airport, as it is the largest of the four, as well as well-connected internationally and to Bochum via public transportation. If you arrive via Dusseldorf airport and want to take public transportation, you need to take the SkyTrain to the airport train station, and then the train RE1/RE6/RE11/S1 to Bochum main station.
Cologne/Bonn is also connected relatively well internationally and via public transportation, but further away from Bochum. If you arrive via Cologne airport and want to take public transportation, you need to walk to the airport train station.
Dortmund and Münster/Osnabrück are mainly leisure airports and primarily serve vacation destinations. They are less convenient to reach by public transportation, due to less frequent bus/train intervals.
From Bochum main station, you can take the U35, and exit at Gesundheitscampus or Ruhr University Bochum.
If arriving by car, there are multiple parking lots at RUB and on the far west side of campus closer to building MC.
